Hello everyone. I know I haven’t been around on Tumblr in a while, and not online much at all in the past couple weeks. This post is to tell you why.
On the night of December 23rd around 10pm, my friend and peer, BadmanBastich, was coming home from a party at his workplace. Though the details remain unclear, police know that he was waiting for the train home when he somehow fell and hit his head. A train struck him, and it is believed he died instantly. He was 34 years old.
I apologize that this information is late in getting to you, but I’ve remained silent out of respect for his family, to give them time to cope, mourn, and handle the intricacies that come with things like this. He was an inspiration to many of us, a source of genuine joy, talent and camaraderie. On a personal note, he was one of my closest friends, so I need not say how this has affected me. Suffice to say I miss him dearly, and if I regret anything, it’s that I don’t know if he ever knew how much he meant to me.
Several of us artists have decided to work on an art tribute to Badman, a fun collab project that celebrates his OC’s and favorite fandoms. This is open to anyone who wishes to join. We just request that it remain tasteful (no nudity/NSFW stuff). If you want to draw one of his characters, great. If you’re unfamiliar with them, his favorite fandoms included Guardian Heroes, Fatal Fury and Street Fighter, so you’re welcome to draw something from those instead. This is not a big pic with everything combined; rather, we’ll be posting our individual pics here to Tumblr and tagging them ‘BadmanTribute’ so that all friends and fans can see.
I hope you’ll join me in wishing peace and condolences to his family, and in celebrating the life of one of the coolest dudes out there.
I’m in absolute shock and tears over this. I actually ran to my computer to reblog this when I saw it on my other tumblr. Badman and I had planned to do a trade together earlier this year and work completely took over the time I had to do it… I’ve never felt so much regret until now over not being able to manage my time for trades. I’m happy I got to know him, even if it was only for a short time… In honour of his memory I will be contributing to this with the picture I would have loved to do for him.
My condolences to his family and anyone who may have known him…. this is such a tragic loss.
